Greener Travel

As active people who love the great outdoors and all the opportunities it offers us for adventure, discovery and connection, we understand the importance of protecting the places we love.

Across the Active Travel Group, we have worked hard to choose the right partners to help us achieve our goals and we are proud to work alongside brilliant charities and initiatives to ensure that travel remains sustainable in the long term.

Our Brands

As a team of people who have a collective love of skiing and passion for the mountains, Ski Solutions is committed to protecting their playground. Not only is the brand actively working towards Active Travel Group’s plans to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2030, at a brand level, the team is able to help clients make positive steps when it comes to making more sustainable decisions for their ski holiday. From train or car travel, to eco-friendly hotels in resorts with environmentally-friendly initiatives, the team is doing all they can to make the greener choice an easier one for clients.

Cycling for Softies are committed to preserving the places they love to visit. With a focus on sustainability - both ethically and environmentally - the company plans to leave the world in a better place for future generations. They pride themselves on the sustainable nature of their holidays and have carbon-scored all their tours, to give clients total transparency on their impact. This ethos is shared across the company, with the head office run on renewable energy, all employee flights offset, and a cycle-to-work scheme.

The company proudly supports the charity World Bicycle Relief, who work to improve the lives of thousands of people in rural communities. World Bicycle Relief’s mission is to mobilise people through bicycles, and they hope to see a world where distance is no longer a barrier to education, healthcare and economic opportunity.

In choosing a Wilderness brand, be it Scotland, England or Ireland, you can be sure that you are travelling with a company that takes its commitment to sustainable tourism seriously. In addition to our pioneering Conservation Contribution Scheme, our holidays are purposefully designed to provide a visitor experience that maximises the positive benefits of tourism while minimising any negative impacts.

From start to finish we're constantly seeing where greener choices can be made. We start our trips at mainline train stations to promote the use of public transport and encourage clients to make use of reusable water bottles and lunch boxes. Conscious of the people that live in the areas that we visit, we ensure that we spread the economic impact whilst also minimising disturbance to the local community and environment.

Across our brands, we support various partners including the John Muir Trust in both Scotland and England, and BurrenBeo in Ireland, to help take care of our natural assets and cultural history.
